Michael was last seen around 9:00 a.m. that morning after leaving a residence near South Gilbert and West Warner Roads on foot. Concerns for his well-being had been raised due to known medical conditions, prompting the issuance of an AZDPS SAFE Alert as law enforcement and the community worked to locate him.
Later that evening, officials confirmed that an individual found deceased had been identified as Michael Chernek. Following this confirmation, the SAFE Alert was canceled.
