Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late John and Francis Kolanko. She is survived by her sister, Jayne Whitehead, and brother-in-law William Whitehead; her son, Richard J. Riesmeyer; and her daughter, Renee J. Hillebrand and son-in-law Jason Hillebrand.
Affectionately known as “Mimi,” Barbara took immense pride in her role as a grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Tyler Hillebrand and his wife KerriAnn, Austin Hillebrand, Addison Hillebrand, Samantha Riesmeyer, Carson Hillebrand, Nicholas Riesmeyer, and Mason Hillebrand. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy, and she treasured every moment shared with them while looking forward to welcoming future generations.
She is also survived by her nephews, Mathew Whitehead (Danielle) and Adam Whitesmith (Mindy), whom she loved dearly.
Barbara found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing cards, watching her favorite soap operas, game shows, and the Hallmark Channel, visiting the local library, spending time in the sunshine, cooking, and reading. After many years of hard work, these moments brought her comfort and joy.
Her dedication extended beyond her family into her community. Barbara volunteered at local voting polls and was an active member of the Lions Club in Jefferson Hills for many years, contributing her time and energy to causes that supported others.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her for the love she gave freely, the friendships she nurtured, and the pride she took in her family. Her presence brought warmth and connection to the lives of many, and her memory will continue to live on through those she touched.
