The Cumberland, Rhode Island community is mourning the loss of Caleb Raymond Butler, whose passing at the age of 26 has left family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken.
Caleb passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket following a reported car accident. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Craig and Idalina (Lazaro) Butler and had been a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
He was known for his outgoing personality, kind heart, and willingness to help anyone in need. Those closest to him describe Caleb as someone who cared deeply for others and was always ready to offer support, encouragement, or a helping hand.
In recent months, Caleb had been working for a local fence company, and prior to that, he was employed by CPS Technologies in Norton. Outside of his work, he found joy in the outdoors, spending time fishing, swimming, hiking, and playing golf—activities that brought him both peace and happiness.
Above all, Caleb cherished his role as a father. He is survived by his daughter, Penelope Butler, who remains a central part of the legacy he leaves behind. He is also survived by his parents, his brother Joshua Butler of Cumberland, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will continue to honor his memory.
Family and friends are holding onto the moments they shared with Caleb—memories filled with laughter, companionship, and genuine care. His kindness and generosity have left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
A Life Celebration was held at J. J. Duffy Funeral Home in Cumberland, with visitation taking place on August 6 and August 7, followed by a prayer service and burial at Arnolds Mills Cemetery.
Though his life was cut short, Caleb Raymond Butler’s memory will continue through the love he gave, the relationships he built, and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
