Throughout his distinguished legal career, he advised private equity firms, institutional investors, and global asset managers on complex cross-border transactions, earning a reputation for exceptional legal expertise, integrity, and professionalism.
After joining Gibson Dunn in 2017, Brian became an integral part of the firm’s Hong Kong office. In announcing his passing, the firm remembered him not only as an accomplished lawyer but also as a trusted colleague, valued friend, and dedicated mentor who invested deeply in the growth and success of younger attorneys.
Before entering private practice in Hong Kong, Brian served as the China Program Manager for the Rural Development Institute (now Landesa), where he supported initiatives focused on property rights reform. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies from Williams College before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law, where he also served as an articles editor for the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal.
Over the course of his career, Brian received recognition from leading legal directories, including Chambers Asia Pacific, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, and IFLR1000, reflecting the high regard in which he was held by clients and peers alike.
